Whether it’s traditional orchestration, pop music, ambient textures, or electronic frenzies, Josh can bring emotion and narrative to any visual media. His music writing style is always influenced by his desire to include live instrumentation and real, original sounds. He is often known to ask musicians to search for unusual ways to generate sound on their instruments, broadening the available emotional range for the project and creating further distinction from those that may be similar.
A director’s composer
Josh’s wide variety of experience in the film and television industry continually influences his music writing. In addition to his work in music, he’s worked as an audio engineer, sound supervisor, and sound editor providing dialogue cleaning, foley, ADR, and mixing services to various media formats. He also served as an executive producer on the multi-award winning short film “The Fisherman”. Josh maintains a constant focus on how his music works in tandem with the sound design of the film, never overpowering or underplaying the events on screen.

Josh is a proud Michigander. From the motor city to the Great Lakes shores, a trait often used to describe those from Michigan is grit. There is no “just work until it gets done” attitude. It is always: “work until we get it right.”
